MØ has confirmed her eagerly anticipated debut single, Pilgrim, for release on 25 February via Chess Club Records in the UK and Neon Gold in the US. The single will be available digitally and on 7-inch vinyl, the latter exclusively with a remix by MS MR.
Tipped by the likes of Pitchfork, The Guardian, The Line of Best Fit and NME, and voted onto the longlist of the Blog Sound of 2013, MØ landed on everyone’s radar when she posted the track Maiden online in May 2012. The Danish songstress followed up with a stunning turn at CMJ in New York, before a handful of jaw-dropping intimate shows - including a performance at The Lexington in London in November - raised anticipation further. In between those shows, MØ (AKA Karen Marie Ørsted) has been in the studio, working on her debut album with Ronni Vindahl of Danish producer entity No Wav. Describing her songs as a battle for control of her own emotions, Pilgrim backs up that theory with beat-driven glitch-pop that is already at odds with the emotive, lush synthscapes of its predecessor, Maiden.
